BCM wake, My friend has the VXL combo, when I race with him, I will give you comparison. It might not be for a week or 2 though. I'm going to gear it 90/19 & 86/23 to start. Any1 got any other ideas on settings, I'm going to buy the Field program card also. Do i have to have USB cable or does that Field card take the place of the USB cable.

I know the MMP comes with the USB cable, but i didn't get the MMP. THXYou just have to plug the esc to the field card and then plug in a battery and turn it on. When you get the field card, it comes with directions on how to connect and also what the settings mean on the card. Thx for tryin to answer rd, but what I need 2 know is. Do I need the USB cable or does the Field card take the place of the USB cable.?
I use MAC&its hard for me to get access to a PC. What do I need the USB cable for?just firmware updates? So do I have to have the USB castle link cable or can the Field Card take the place of the USB cable? AND can the field Card download the updates and/or plug into the PC castle link program? Do I even need the USB cable?
ThxMine came with the field card and a USB cable. According to the instructions, there are 2 ways to use the field card: 1. Use the field card to make changes without a computer 2. Use the field card as a castle link usb adapter with a windows pc I just use my field card.
I have yet to use the supplied usb cable. Only thing I hate is I have to remove the cover on my receiver box to access my receiver so I can unplug the esc cable and plug it into the field card. As far as updating firmware, looks like you can update it through the field card but you have to connect it to your computer or mail it back to Castle and they will update the card for you (according to back of the instructions manual). Here is the instructions manual: Hope this helps.
THX rd, LHS sold me USB link, and i order Field card today. So i mite be beat with the USB cord.? Maybe he will give store credit, since its untouched, pretty much. We'll see, thx JR, the 1410 3800kv takes up to 3s, but my sidewinder SCT suggests no more then 2s. I ran 2 runs today with the 2s 5000mah 20c & the other one was 30c.
It didn't get even a little bit hot. It was 60degrees here though, and I wasn't full throttle the whole battery. My 1st day with the SCT 1410 3800kv combo. I like so far!!!
-MMP, can take up to 6s and it takes sensored or sensorless motors. That's the big difference. BCM, I ran the SCT 3800KV vs. My boy's VXL system.
We were pretty much exactly the same til about 25-30yards, My Slash was a little faster off the line. His Slash was a little little faster from 30-50yds. 50yd race on grass. But, either of us could gear are Slash, to be faster off the line or faster top speed. He was running 3s, i was 2s. I was geared 90/19, he was geared 21/86 I believe.
So it's very close in speed either way. SCT system doesn't seem to get hot at all, but the VXL gets slightly hot, but nothing to get crazy over. Remember he's running 3s, so there is so many ways to compare. Overall I'm very happy with this system. AND O'YEA, we were both running in the light rain & street puddles after the rain ended.
So If some1 wants the SCT combo/3800kv, I wouldn't worry about the waterproof issue. Last thing, at 90/19 gearing I didn't wheelie once, but there was soo much Torque!! I could gear to wheelie if I want to, but I don't really want to. Just installed my SCT kit!
It's geared 24/86. It wheelys on demand. Runs very cool. I'm running 2s 5000mah 30c battery's. I put these crappy thetoyz tires from my mini revo just to burn them up.
And yes they are know just foam on plastic wheels hahhahaha! And know I just put back on my proline switch tires and the traction is great.
I also hooked up one of my mini revo 3s battery's and it really woke it up, I was unsure of this kit, but man am I glad I ordered it. The only down side is the super long wires for motor and esc. Jr, If your going to be submerged in water, then I don't know.
I wouldn't submerge it in water, but I wouldn't do that with any ESC. Some1 told me that if it stops working, you can let it dry out& it will probably be fine. For Cleaning, you can easily remove the ESC from the Chassis & then spray it down. I have my ESC double-sided tapped down, so it's easy to take off if I want to.

I would say, the water-proof issue is a NON-ISSUE, get what you want. I love mine!! Brailman, Yes,the wires coming from the 3800kv motor are definitely too long, but I think they are that long so you can mount the ESC anywhere on the chassis you would like. I heat shrink wrapped my wires coming out of the motor, so rocks and other things will not harm the wires. Heat shrink wrap tubing I think they are called. You can get a assortment bag of them for like 5bux.
