From the description of the issue, I understand that you are unable to access the External Hard Drive. I would like to know few more details on the below questions to understand the issue better. 1.What is the make and model of the computer?

2.Which security software is installed on the computer? 3.Did you make any changes to the computer recently?

4.What is the error you get while trying to access external drive? Please follow the below methods to ascertain the issue and see if it can be resolved.

Plug in to a different usb port and check if that helps. Plug in this drive on a different pc and check if you are able to access the drive. Plug in another drive or usb flash drive on this computer and check if you are able to access the drive. Connect the device, run the hardware and devices troubleshooter and check if that helps.

Follow these steps to run the troubleshooter: a) Write Troubleshooting in the search box and hit enter. B) Click on Troubleshooting tab. C) Click on view all option on the upper left corner. D) Select the Hardware and Device options from the list. E) Click Next to run the Hardware and Device Troubleshooter.

I uninstalled the application and reconnected the hard drive to the USB 3.0 port to run the setup again. The hard drive does not show in File Explorer. I ran the Troubleshooter and that did not fix the problem. I checked all the USB ports and they work. I am able to use the hard drive on my other laptop that has Windows 7.UPDATE. I've bought a new external hard drive. It works well with Windows 10.
