Feb 11, 2013 StarCraft 2. Proposed fixes for Adept and Disruptor Looking to get into Streamer Casting SC2 General Discussion & Simple Q/A PROTOSSED.

#1 Has anyone received the error message: 'Failure to Read Required File' when loading Starcraft? I've begun reinstalling and around 70% I've run into the same problem. The error message suggests turning off my anti-virus. However, I've never had any problems with Norton interfering with Starcraft II before.

I haven't changed my anti-virus software in almost a year, and I've played a lot of Starcraft. I'm not sure what could have changed. I haven't made any major alterations to files on my computer that could explain a problem with Starcraft II. This message started today.

#9 If re-install doesn't work: You can check Norton's firewall settings, and if Starcraft2.exe, the Blizz downloader and Agent.exe are allowed, it's not Norton causing the problem. What I understand about the launcher is that it's really sensitive to any problem your computer has; it can fail if you have spyware, if you have any devices acting up, or if the files in your Battle.net tools folder or your Battle.net cache are corrupted. In control panel: Run Windows Update, and make sure your Windows is up to date. Check your device manager, and see if any of your devices are malfunctioning or if any of their drivers are out of date.

In administrative tools, if you go to your system event viewer, there will sometimes be descriptions of what errors / warnings / critical failures are occurring and what is causing them (more or less). Also in the control panel's administrative tools is a utility named 'services' or the service manager. Open that up and look for the service 'seclogon', or the Secondary Logon service, right-click-properties and set it to 'Automatic' (it's usually set to manual by default). The launcher depends on this service apparently. In windows explorer Make a new folder on your desktop, because sometimes, doing this is unnecessary. No point deleting these files completely. BNet Tools folder C: ProgramData Battle.net - move this folder into the folder you create (cut-paste).

Try and run the launcher after moving this, as this alone can fix the problem. The moment you try to run the launcher, this file will be recreated - you should delete every new one that's created when it doesn't work. BNet Cache C: ProgramData Blizzard Entertainment Battle.net - move this into the folder you create, too.

Make sure not to overwrite the other Battle.Net folder. If none of these work. 1).Press Window key 'R' 2).Type 'cmd' into the run window to open up the command prompt 3).Type 'msinfo32' - Click on File Export. And export it to Desktop name it msinfo32.txt 4).Back in the command prompt, type 'dxdiag' - Click on Save All Information. And send that to Desktop name it dxdiag.txt 5).Open a ticket with Blizzard and attach those 2.txt files.

Tell them you've tried everything, and don't let them convince you to run defragment, scandisk, reformats, or any other shit that won't work. #13 I had this same problem when patching the HotS for the last time. Solution that helped me: So go to ProgramData Battle.net Agent Agent.xxxx(take the one with the highest number, for me 1544) Logs From here pick the latest AgentErrors document and open it, there you should find the file that is the cause of the problem, delete it and run the launcher again. Make sure to turn off your AV and other programs, for some reason this is really sensitive. If nothing changes and it fails again, repeat the procedure.

Starcraft Failed To A Required File

Helped me at least. 12: Patch Application Initialization - Failed to open archive 'E:/Program Files (x86)/SC2 HotS Beta/StarCraft II 2012 Beta/Campaigns/Liberty.SC2Campaign/Base.SC2Assets' 12: Updating Error: 2111 Removing the file does nothing.

Any more suggestions? I've uninstalled and deleted everything related to blizzard, disabled firewall and aa virus software and I still get the same messege when trying to install.

I guess I'll have to start a ticket with blizzard. Update: I installed WoL again and now the downloader goes to 0.4% (it didn't start at all before) and then I get the error message again.
