Hello I have an XL340.TM. I was well into a first time FREE Lifetime map download using the promotion code but had to abort the process. My own error. When I tried to restart the down load the system tells me I can't use the promotion code more than once? But I haven't used it yet, I aborted the download process!
If you only get one shot, how can that be a lifetime supply? Can anyone tell me how to get my FREE map upgrades now that I have apparently unsuccessfully used my one shot at this promotion? Hi there, are you logged in with the TT Home application and your e-mail-address is shown in the top right corner?

If not do so. Also please tell us which map version do you have installed on your device? The latest map version is still v875 but this month there should be another version published which will be v880. The free map update promo code will only work for the US, Canada & Mexico map (may also be called North America map). So for all other maps you'll need a separate map update subscription if you'd like to update those maps as well.
Regards Lars. I cannot get my lifetime maps either.
I spoke to customer service and I am being told that they don't see that I have lifetime maps. The only reason I bought it was for the free lifetime maps. I was told to email them with my receipt or a picture of the box where it says about the maps! They cannot go by the serial number. I cannot believe the run around. I am so displeased with the whole TomTom experience. The other thing is that I had a TomTom and then purchased the new one for the maps.
I went to my account online to register the new TomTom and update it. The old TomTom info is on the new TomTom now! Customer Service told me I bought a map for the new TomTom. I said I bought it for the old TomTom. Nothing popped up or alerted me that you can only have one device on the account.
Customer Service had me make a new account now but it certainly did not change all the mess has been created and I STILL DONT HAVE MY LIFETIME MAPS! Hi, you may find out your device's exact name by using the link below: Below I'll explain the meaning of the description:.
XXL540M: you'll have a XXL540 with lifetime map updates for the North American map. XXL540T: you'll have a XXL540 with lifetime traffic, so you'll have the TMC receiver delivered with your device. XXL540TM: you'll have a XXL540 with both features already described. XXL540S: you'll have neither lifetime map updates nor lifetime traffic but only the text-to-speech functionality.Regards Lars. Well you don't need to keep the box, just the activation code that was on a card marked in large red letters 'IMPORTANT - DO NOT DISCARD YOU WILL NEED THIS VOUCHER CODE IN ORDER TO ENABLE YOUR LIFETIME MAPS SUBSCRIPTION' It was laying on top of the gps's when you opened each of the three boxes.
You have to phyically pick it up to get to the gps. However Tomtom is willing to activate the subscription if you can prove that you actually got a model with lifetime maps (ie you have the box ). Vendors have been known to advertise lifetime maps but ship units that don't come with it. Unfortunitely, I missed the label you are talking about and didnt read the manual deep enough to catch the fact that you had to activate the advertised free map update by typing in some promotional code, I just thought it would automatically come with the unit that was in the advertised box, I bought the units from Traget. The map that is in the unit cannot find many street addresses which is frustrating, I got it last Christmas and I have an older Garmin that finds the addresses everytime, so Tom Tom must have put a pretty old map in the units I bought.
If I am lucky I will be able to find the all important boxes/label in my garage if they didnt get thrown out. I talked to someone in support. They told me that I have to have a separate email account for each device I have.
Our newer one took on our old device's info. Then they said I had to email support to make a complaint since I am unhappy about paying for lifetime maps, not being able to get them, and for not being told that if I didn't use another email account everything would get messed up. They emailed to send a copy of my receipt and serial number but then they didn't like the format I used to send the copy.
They wanted it in a different format. I did that but never heard back from them. I just emailed them again for a second attempt. I have to XL540M but do not have the promotion code, box the unit came in, or the receipt any more since it was purchased a year ago. When I spoke with Tom Tom they said the only way I can get the free map update offer is if I had one of the above. They said they sold some of these modeled units without the free map update offer so you 'Cannot' Go by the model number. Basically I am just going to have to replace this unit with a Garmin since their maps find more streets then my Tom Tom does.
I am not going to purchase a map from Tom Tom since I was supposed to get them free but unfortunately I did not look closer at the paperwork that came with the unit to notice the requirement to enter a promotion code. I did not read everything on the box when I threw it away.
One would expect that the serial number would give Tom Tom the info they need to upgrade my maps. I am now royally annoyed.
I've been using my Tom Tom for maybe two years, no complaints.but noticed a few times the map was not current, so thought I'd sit down the update (for FREE I thought). I've been trying to find a 'contact us' phone number, no luck with that. But from what I am reading I am out of luck.
Rather than update, I'd rather pay more and purchase a new one.NOT Tom Tom. And, I was just about to BUY Europe maps.forget it. I don't like the way they operate.
I did not read all of the material, because my prior gps was also a Tom Tom (which fell off the windscreen.often.and one time it broke the glass and they don't fix the glass). But I bought another Tom Tom and stick it to the dash (and it falls off that too!!!!). But I already knew how to operate this new Tom Tom, so I tossed the box.
Forget Tom Tom. I think I'll be checking out Garmin's. What a disappointment. I'll try first to see if there is a contact us that I've missed.but if I don't find it soon I'm giving up on this company.
They lost my European map sale.and any future sales.
